Unwritten Exam - Abel Idaewor

Gring! Gring! The alarm sounded. It was 7am.  Morgan had countless
nightmares in one night than he had ever had. Hurriedly, he puts on
his shirt and shorts, takes his study materials and was headed
straight for the library. On getting there, Morgan stood still shocked
at the volume of books he had to cover before the next day. No one has
ever done this before. He thought to himself. 'Where do I start from?
Is the brain capacity of any human high enough to retain all these
information?'

...THE PREVIOUS DAY
'zenith college is known for its remarkable approach in bringing out
the best in students'. The principal blurted. 'As I have always said,
to get the best out of this school your effort is key. Over the years,
we've had results born out of incurable dummies. No matter how long we
extend their stay here in school, they are never prepared. They are
never perfect. Just a bunch of frustrated beings. Our previous sets
have succeeded in turning the name of this school into an irony'. The
whole class laughed. 'We expect nothing less from you all this time
around. You did quite well in your first year even if some of you
still failed some courses. And like you all know failure in one course
alone is enough to get you doomed. But we graciously allowed you scale
through. But we will not overlook the fact that your efforts still
seriously need to be proven. And that's why your final exams have been
moved to the day after tomorrow.' The whole class gaped in shock. It
sounded like a joke. No one ever saw this coming cos it made no sense.
I mean it was humanly impossible for them to finish their curriculum
in just one day. They had just finished their first year in school and
had quite a number of years more before graduation. And now their
final exams was just few days ahead of them. Passing this exam would
seem like the 8th wonder of the world to them. The whole school was
perplexed. No one was willing to hear their complaints.

'Is anything the problem?. Are you interested in a special
collection or something?'. The librarian asked.  Morgan rudely looked
at her and went straight to the shelf. Tensed up, he picks up the
first book, opens it and starts reading. It wasn't going too well for
him. He was sweating profusely. The more he kept reading, the clearer
his inadequacies were to him. In an instant, he closed the book he was
reading, stood up and went outside. Where's he going? The librarian
wondered.

45 minutes later, Morgan storms into the library again looking really
frustrated. He had gone out earlier on to experiment some of the stuff
he had read. But it turned out to be a great fiasco. How worse can
this day become for Morgan?

It was 6pm about the library's closing time. Morgan, after browsing
through a quarter of the books he had to read, sat on his chair,
quietly staring at his desk in frustration. Different thoughts were
running through his head.
'Young man, is anything the problem?'. The librarian asked. Morgan was
too engrossed in his thoughts that he didn't even notice someone was
there; beside him. 'Young man?'. She said tapping him this time
around. 'Ye..! Yes! Yes!. He answered in shock. 'Are you okay?'. She
asked again smiling at him. Morgan made known his predicament to her
thinking that would make him feel better. 'You don't have to stress
yourself out in the name of reading you know. Truth is that you can
never be good enough to write the exams tomorrow. Just accept this
fact and let the exam be'. The librarian suggested. What she said
didn't make any sense to Morgan. 'I can still make it'. Morgan rudely
said to her. Even if it sounded stupid to him. He carried his bag and
left.

Tick! Tick! Tick! Ti...! Morgan sat on his bed staring at the wall
clock on the opposite side of his room. It was 11:43pm Morgan had not
yet slept. He was drowning in his thoughts. He was seriously brooding
over his inadequacies. 'I can't do this on my own. I'm not cut out for
this'. It suddenly dawned on Morgan that he wasn't good enough to write the exams. What would become of him? Was he willing to embrace
what he deserved; which is failure and the shame behind it?

It was a sunny afternoon. Dust covered the whole compound as students
trooped into the school to check their results that had been pasted
earlier that day. It wasn't too good for anyone. Even though that was
what most of them expected. One could hear the murmurings around.
Frustrated students chanting. Everyone seemed condemned and broken.
You could feel the depression hovering over the the hot air that
afternoon. But something miraculous had happened. Someone had all A's.
He came out not just the best in that set, but the best so far in the
history of Zenith college. It was Morgan. He suddenly became the new
sensation. Everyone was talking about him. This didn't make any sense
because Morgan didn't sit for the exams and yet he came out the best.
How was this possible? Morgan thought to himself as he wandered around
his room. He was confused and excited at the same time. He has just
finished receiving a call from a classmate of his. He still wasn't
completely convinced so Morgan decided to go and see things for
himself. Coincidentally, Morgan bumped into the librarian. 'Good
afternoon young man'.  She greeted.  'Afternoon ma'am'. Morgan swiftly
replied as he continued his journey. 'I have the answer you're looking
for you know'. The librarian blurted. 'What!'. Curious Morgan turned
like he had just seen a ghost. 'He said his name was Jech. He knew
about your predicament and was willing and able to help if only you
were willing to give him a chance. That was why I told you to forget
about the exams and face the fact that you were not cut out for it
back then in the library. You see I was trying to help you. And I'm
glad you took my advice. 'But how did he get my credentials? My school
ID?'. Morgan asked. He took them from your bag when you went outside
after reading your first book. He went to the hall as you. In your
stead. He wrote the exams in your name. So now you have all the good
grades with no effort on your part. It's all yours to enjoy. So go on
now, collect your award and enjoy your reward cos Jech has done it
all.

Rom 8:4
Christ fulfilled  the law on our behalf. Let me rephrase that. Christ
fulfilled the law on YOUR behalf. Yes! You are Morgan. And you don't
have to live by them anymore. Seeing your good grades, God is pleased
with you not because you read so hard and wrote the exams but simply
because of Jech (Jesus Christ). Yes! Glory!

SO MORGAN DO HAVE A WONDERFUL GRADUATION PARTY. ENJOY YOUR VICTORY!
